Only the candles burn
The year is slowly coming to an end -
with the smell of cookies and a Christmas tree.
The guns are silent, just a dream.
We are probably too cowardly for peace.
We celebrate like every year -
whether people are starving, fleeing, dying.
We donate our money and think of the roast:
"Will he be able to succeed?"
Christmas means two faces these days.
We pretend we're angels
but we are actually looking the other way.
Are we too cowardly to help the world or just too lazy?
Only the candles burn, not our hearts?
I pray: let the many words be followed by deeds.
We stand by each other, hold hands.
Reflect on what seems important.
Thinking of the many in deepest loneliness
and paint a big "peace" on the wall.
We remember the child in the stable
to the parents who were desperately looking for help,
and when there's a knock on our door today,
we rudely point the way and remain silent.
Christmas means two faces these days.
We pretend we're angels
but we are actually looking the other way.
Are we too cowardly to help the world or just too lazy?
Only the candles burn, not our hearts?
I pray: let the many words be followed by deeds.
How beautiful is the Christmas season -
with the smell of cookies and a Christmas tree.
Solidarity seems only a distant dream
it is probably too far to genuine charity.
Christmas means two faces these days.
We pretend we're angels
but we are actually looking the other way.
Are we too cowardly to help the world or just too lazy?
Only the candles burn, not our hearts.
I pray: let the many words be followed by deeds.

die still zusahen.“
Kleiner Dezembär: „Das klingt schön. Aber was passierte dann?“
Novembär: „Das erfährst du morgen, kleiner Dezembär. Die Nacht hatte noch viele Überraschungen!“
Kleiner Dezembär: „Ich bin gespannt. Danke, Novembär!“
